DeveloperVOICE/STORY
One of the causes of thinning hair is the aging of the scalp and hair root cells, resulting in increased hair loss and cessation of hair growth. We discovered that surfactants used in shampoos and other products cause aging of the scalp and hair root cells. In other words, it is considered that shampoo is one of the causes of thinning hair.
Surfactants have the property of being compatible with both water and oil, and are an excellent product that removes dirt by mixing water and oil, which normally do not mix.
There are four types of surfactants:
●Anionic surfactant
use: Shampoo, body soap
Characteristics: Good foaming, excellent emulsification ●
Cationic surfactant
use: Treatment
Features: Antistatic effect
●Amphoteric surfactant
use: Shampoo, body soap
Features: Mild, Synergistic effect with other active agents
Nonionic surfactant Application: Emulsification of cosmetics in
general
Features: Excellent emulsification, low foaming
We discovered that “anionic surfactants” with good properties and “cationic surfactants” with strong treatment effects have a significant adverse effect on hair-forming cells. These surfactants are widely used in shampoos and treatments.
On the other hand, we discovered that polysorbate, a “nonionic surfactant”, has properties that are gentle on cells. In the end, it was the “surfactant with less foaming” that had the least adverse effects on the human body.
With this discovery, we were able to develop a shampoo that is extremely gentle on the scalp (patented *2 ).
